edited to add: i've got one winner, i'll take two more.

This is the neatest pay-it-forward holiday idea and I wanted to participate. I bet many of y'all would have fun with this.

May I choose a book for someone?

I shall be the not-so-secret Santa for (at least) the first person to respond to this post who is not already on my personal gift list.

You:

* Haven't yet met me in person.
* Like to read, or at least can stand it.
* Don't mind giving your real name and address to a stranger (me) when I give you my email address
* Will carry this forward.

I:

* Am your not-so-secret Santa.
* Will reply back to the first qualifying comment & I will be asking you to send me your mailing address via my email.
* Will study your Interests list, and decide on a book to send to you for Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, Giftmas, Yule, Solstice, whatever you like. The book might be a used book. It might be a book you already have (but I'm going to try not to send a common one).
* Will mail the book sometime so you will get it soonish (depending on how long it takes in the mail).

You:

* Carry it forward (do the same thing for someone on your friends list, or someone in real life).

Hey, I think I commented on your journal once before, when you got married last summer, and I just read on the FTM forum that you're starting T tomorrow (this is to explain why I'm looking at your journal now...). Just wanted to say congratulations on that big step and, after seeing this post, to ask if you're still looking to pass the reading love around. Even if you're not sending actual books these days, I just finished Dietrich Bonhoeffer's Letters and Papers from Prison and am in the market for a recommendation, whether drawn from your studies at Union or from somewhere else.

In any case, happy (late) 2008!

So obviously I added you back - hope that's ok (LJ etiquette really confuses me). I'm really looking forward to reading your "top ten books for 2007" list.

About the book, I'm living in Austria at the moment, so I don't want to put you out for postage. Hmm, perhaps it would work if you could send something to my mom in CA, though...maybe we can figure something out by email. Thanks for the offer!
