i just bought a new ipod and with it an itunes gift card. in general i'm looking for some new music to excite me. i pretty much like everything except for singers who scream. here is some stuff that has been exciting me lately:

arcade fire
panic at the disco
anais mitchell
antje duvekot
bright eyes
the new dashboard confessional cd
jess klein
tegan and sara

those are just a few things to give you an idea of what's been cool to me lately, but i am really up to listen to anything and discover new stuff. i esp like stuff with really thought provoking lyrics.

so let me have it: what have you been listening to? who do you love? who have i got to check out?

Lately I love the Magnetic Fields. You can hear the Arcade Fire covering their song "Born on a Train" on Hype Machine (www.hypem.com). It's a good cover.

Music you can get for free, so don't get it off iTunes: Gaia Consort
Music you might like, because I like: a group called Dispatch, an album called Bang, Bang.

Good luck. I love new music.

Oooh, I like many of yours, as well as Magnetic Fields. Over the Rhine, Postal Service, the Decemberists, and FEIST!

i'm all about the hip-hop lately.
the must listen of the year for me is lupe fiasco.
his first disc is called 'food and liquor' and his second that is on non-stop in my head(and which came out in december) is called 'lupe fiasco's The Cool.'

Who cares what YOU like...I have lately been obsessed with MIKA. Ask Kim about his music. You are more than welcome to come over one night and raid my cd/iTunes collection...again ask Kim. Talk to you later.

I've been enjoying Ray LaMontagne recently on my iPod. He's very mellow. I love his song "Be Here Now."

Also, never rule out bands/singers who scream!
